Is anyone else baffled why it’s only after the second tape came out that all the shit truly hit the fan? Why is it that the Ravens kept Rice and let him have a press conference and supported him after only seeing the first tape, but then told him to get fucked after the second? Why did the NFL (whether or not they had already seen the second tape and were covering it up) only indefinitely suspend him after the second tape?
The one everyone undoubtedly saw, the original, had him dragging his unconscious fiancee from an elevator, and everyone knew it was because he hit her, as he admitted. How does anyone need the second tape to decide to get harsh? Just what in the hell did they think happened in the elevator?
Think about how hard you have to be hit to get knocked out. If it happens on a football field, they’re bringing out a stretcher and a bunch of medical staff. It almost never happens in boxing or MMA or whatever. You have to get crushed to get knocked out. That’s obvious. So after the first tape, it should have been plain to everyone that he did something horrifying. But 2 games from the NFL (or what you get for stepping on a fully-padded lineman in Suh’s case) and the support of your team comes for that. Unless they have to actually look at what everyone already knew happened. It doesn’t make any sense. He went from 2 games to an indefinite suspension with no new information, and now people are acting like the controversy is whether or not they had already seen the second tape and when and if they should have. Who gives a shit? The controversy should be why in sweet fuck the first tape wasn’t enough to take these same measures. It should be why in the hell Greg Hardy, who did this:
“Hardy pulled me from the tub by my hair, screaming at me that he was going to kill me, break my arms, and other threats that I completely believe. He drug me across the bathroom and out into the bedroom. Hardy choked me with both hands around my throat while I was lying on the floor. Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me onto a couch covered in assault rifles and/or shotguns.”
and has been found guilty by a judge, was allowed to play last week. Click on this fun list for more.
I’ve been really annoyed hearing all these hot takes about how awful it is now that they’ve seen him hit her like no one already fucking knew that. I’m sure the Ravens game tonight will have nothing but the same.
